A woman has been caught at Noi Bai International Airport attempting to smuggle animal products, alleged to be rhino horn, into Vietnam.
According to airport customs officers, Nguyen Thi Nhan, who was born in 1987, was stopped after arriving on a flight from Doha, Qatar on May 30.
While the officers were completing her entry procedure, Nhan showed suspicious signs and was informed she would have her luggage searched.
At that moment, she took three pieces of animal horn out of her coat and told the customs officers they were rhino horn. She didn’t declare the goods and failed to produce import certificates.
On June 3, the pieces were sent to the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department under the General Department of Vietnam Customs for tests to classify their origin.-VNA
