APEC 2021: Malaysia calls for great cooperation for sustainable and inclusive recovery

The Ministry of International Trade & Industry of Malaysia (MITI) has called for stronger cooperation among member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum to ensure sustainable and inclusive recovery.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - The Ministry of International Trade & Industry ofMalaysia (MITI) has called forstronger cooperation among member economies of the Asia-PacificEconomic Cooperation (APEC) forum to ensure sustainable and inclusive recovery.

According to MITI, Malaysian Minister of International Trade & Industry Mohammed Azmin Ali is attending the APEC 2021 Leaders' Week from November 8-12, which is organised onlineunder the chair of New Zealand – the Chairman of APEC in 2021.

At the event, Malaysia will share its views on the importance of acceleratingdigital application, innovation and sustainability to create more opportunitiesfor APEC member economies.

Under the theme "Join, Work, Grow. Together," leaders,ministers and senior officials from the 21 APEC member economies will solidifytheir commitment to responding to the health and economic crisis and collectivelydetermine a path for the region's recovery that ensures resilience andsustainability.

Following the week, the 28th APEC EconomicLeaders’ Meeting from November 12-13 will provide strategic visions and directions for futurecooperation among APEC member economies.

APEC is a regional economic forum established in 1989 to leveragethe growing interdependence of the Asia-Pacific. APEC's 21 members aim tocreate greater prosperity for the people of the region by promoting balanced,inclusive, sustainable, innovative and secure growth by accelerating regionaleconomic integration.

APEC membereconomies, with a population of  about 3 billion people, account for 50 percent of global trade and 60percent of the world's total GDP./.
