The Committee on Parliamentary Affairs of the Francophone’s Parliamentary Assembly (APF) convened in Hanoi on April 27.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnam’s National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu said the three-day meeting offers a chance for Vietnam to learn from the experience of the committee and other APF members in parliamentary activities.

Vietnam highly values APF’s motto and objectives, Luu said, adding that the organisation plays an active part in the Francophone community’s institution through initiating and deploying activities to boost parliamentarian cooperation and solidarity.

He affirmed that the Vietnam sub-committee, in its capacity as the APF Vice Chairman, has actively participated in the oragnisation’s activities to strengthen friendship and cultural exchange as well as promote cooperation and development with APF members.

The Vietnamese legislative leader added that the International Francophone Organisation and the Francophone community’s members always hold an important position in Vietnam’s external relations policy.

For his part, APF President Robert Aubin spoke highly of Vietnam National Assembly’s active role and contributions to bilateral and multilateral activities in the APF.

According to the official, the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, as one of the four standing committees in the APF, plays an important role in implementing the organisation’s activities. It is in charge of the study and review of parliament’s common interests as well as inter-parliamentary cooperation and legal-related issues within the Francophone community.-VNA
