Hanoi (VNA) –
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has suggested the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) share with Vietnam experiences in building e-government and e-administration accumulated from its members such as Australia, Singapore and Japan.

Deputy PM Dam made the suggestion while hosting a reception in Hanoi on May 15 for an APICTA delegation, led by its Chairman Stan Singh, who have been on a working visit to Vietnam.

In recent years, the Vietnamese Government has mobilized different resources to foster the development and application of IT in all spheres in a bid to step up the country’s socio-economic development, improve the business environment and enhance the national competitiveness edge, he said.

The hosting of the APICTA Awards in 2019 will serve as a chance for Vietnam to introduce its IT development and facilitate partnerships between domestic businesses and international partners, Dam said.

Vietnam’s IT enterprises will also have an opportunity to promote and affirm the quality of their products and services at the APICTA Awards, the Deputy PM added.

Therefore, the Government of Vietnam will create optimal conditions for the Vietnam Software and IT Service Association (VINASA) and relevant agencies to well prepare for the important event, he stressed.

APICTA Chairman Stan Singh briefed Dam about his working session with leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, which focused on solutions to strengthen bilateral cooperation, foster the development and innovation of ICT in Asia Pacific and a plan to organise the APICTA Awards in Vietnam next year.

The awards are designed to honour outstanding products, software solutions, IT and startups of APICTA members.

The two sides also discussed the adding of prizes for products and solutions related to e-government, e-administration, smart city, and smart agriculture.

APICTA is an alliance of national IT organisations representing their respective economy to build, enhance a network to promote IT, promote technology innovations, capability and adoption and encourage the development of indigenous IT solutions to the global market.

The alliance now has 16 member-economies include Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei,  China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, Macao (China), Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

Vietnam participated in APICTA in 2016. The VINASA brought the best Vietnamese IT products and services to the APICTA Awards two years ago. The APICTA Awards 2018 will be held in China’s Guangzhou province in October.-VNA
