Buenos Aires (VNA) – Many prestigious newspapers in Argentina have highlighted the significance of Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue’s official visits to Cuba, Argentina and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay from April 18-28.

The Resumen Latinoamericano published an article by Dr. Ruvislei González Sáez who said the visits demonstrate Vietnam's commitment and wish to enhance multifaceted relations with the three Latin American and Caribbean countries, not only through the parliamentary diplomacy channel but also as part of Vietnam's overall foreign policy of prioritising the deepening of friendship with traditional partners in the region.

The article stressed that those are the highest-level visits by a Vietnamese leader to the region so far this year, and they carry additional significance as they coincide with important historical events, including the 60th founding anniversary of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam, the 50th anniversary of Fidel Castro Ruz's first visit to Vietnam, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Argentina diplomatic ties and the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-Uruguay diplomatic ties.

Vietnam has so far established official diplomatic relations with all 33 countries in Latin America, demonstrating its policy of attaching importance to the development of ties with the region. According to the author, the visits will mark a new phase in strengthening political and legislative relations while opening up a new chapter in economic and trade ties between Vietnam and the Latin American region.

Meanwhile, the newswire abcmundial.com said the Argentine Government has always valued and wished to strengthen relationship with Vietnam in its overall foreign policy towards the Asia-Pacific.

It commented that Chairman Hue’s visit to Argentina demonstrates that this South American country is one of Vietnam's most important partners in Latin America.

The website acercandonaciones.com affirmed that the visit is a great opportunity to begin a new phase in bilateral relations, especially in investment and trade.

An article posted on this website on April 23 reviewed the important milestones in the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, highlighting the signing of the Comprehensive Partnership agreement in 2010, which contributed to the continuous increase in two-way trade from 316 million USD in 2007 to over 4.8 billion USD in 2022.

On March 23, the weekly newspaper Perfil, one of the media outlets with the biggest readership in Argentina, published an editorial affirming that Vietnam is an important partner and a model for economic development of the South American country.

Opening the editorial, Juan Manuel Harán and Patricio Giusto asserted that the visit presents an opportunity for Argentine policymakers to analyse the sustainable economic growth achievements made by Vietnam over the past three decades, as well as to find solutions to development and integration issues based on Vietnam's experience.

The authors also hailed Vietnam as Argentina's sixth largest trade partner and the fifth largest export market in the world, as well as a key partner in South-South cooperation between Argentina and Southeast Asia and a gateway for entering the ASEAN market.

Talking with Vietnam News Agency before NA Chairman Hue’s visit to Argentina, journalist Gaston Fiorda, an expert on Southeast Asian affairs for the National Radio of Argentina, described Vietnam as an important partner of Argentina. According to him, leaders of this South American country attach importance to bilateral relations and consider Vietnam a priority for the development of relations in the Southeast Asia.

He spoke highly of mutual support of the two countries in dealing with the global challenges such as climate change, humanitarian assistance, COVID-19 prevention and control, and held that both sides have great potential to further enrich their cooperation for mutual benefits.

Apart from increasing trade in traditional sectors such as agriculture, electronics, leather and footwear, Fiorda highlighted opportunities for bilateral cooperation in producing lithium batteries for electric vehicles. Argentina has one of the largest lithium reserves in the world while Vietnam is considered a potential market for electric cars in the near future.

The journalist expressed his belief that the visit will be a success, contributing to further deepening comprehensive partnership between the two countries./.
