Art exhibition honors pure beauty of lotus

Seventy-five pieces of artwork by painter, Buddhist follower Nguyen Thi Kim Duc portraying lotus flower, are on display at an exhibition at Quan Su pagoda in Hanoi.

The exhibition themed “Vietnamese lotus 2023 – The art of purity” is jointly held by UNESCO and the Executive Council of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha.

The week-long exhibition aims to honor the lotus - a symbol of purity, power, and brainpower as well as the artist’s creativity and dedication.

Throughout thousands of years, the lotus has become a symbol of the Vietnamese soul and character. In Buddhism, the lotus is the ultimate spiritual symbol, expressing the Buddha nature inherent in every human being. Understanding these beautiful symbolic meanings, Kim Duc has created many paintings of the flower. One of her paintings "Lien Hoa Tinh Canh" was exhibited at the 9th National Buddhist Congress in 2022.

The exhibition, according to organizers, spotlights lotus flower as an example of overcoming adversity to shine and take strength and love as a pure friend, a companion, and a hope for a good future.

The exhibition is expected to spread the Buddha's message of peace, honor artistic creation activities, and bring positive emotions to the audience./.
