ASEAN women’s circle hosts Hanoi New Year gathering

The ASEAN Community Women's Circle of Hanoi (AWCH) held a 2025 New Year gathering in the capital city on January 8, with Ngo Phuong Ly, spouse of Party General Secretary To Lam, attending.

Hanoi (VNA) – The ASEAN Community Women's Circle of Hanoi (AWCH) held a 2025 New Year gathering in the capital city on January 8, with Ngo Phuong Ly, spouse of Party General Secretary To Lam, attending.

Marking its 10th anniversary this year, AWCH has grown into a network promoting ASEAN cultural exchange and friendship, particularly solidarity among ASEAN women.

Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang highlighted the circle's achievements, such as showcasing ASEAN’s diverse cultures and fostering international ties, expressing her belief that AWCH will continue not only to promote the role and contributions of women in society and spread positive community values but also to strengthen ASEAN solidarity and contribute to the prosperity of the ASEAN community. At the same time, it will support Vietnam’s efforts in entering a new era.

Speaking at the event, Ly expressed her appreciation for the group’s warmth and camaraderie, likening it to a big ASEAN family”.

She congratulated Laos on its successful ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024 and wished Malaysia success in 2025. She also reiterated her support for AWCH’s mission to strengthen regional solidarity and cooperation. Akiko Morioka, spouse of the Malaysian Ambassador, emphasised the importance of building relationships to uphold ASEAN’s values of peace, stability, and mutual respect.

The event featured a special classical music performance and artwork display by female artist Le Thieu Ngan, whose works have received widespread acclaim./.
