ASEAN youths join HIV/AIDS prevention

Youth delegates from six ASEAN countries attended a conference in the Lao capital city of Vientiane from Feb.9-10 to discuss measures to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in the region.
Youth delegates from six ASEAN countries attended a conference in the Lao capital city of Vientiane from Feb.9-10 to discuss measures to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in the region.

Addressing the event, Deputy Secretary Vanna Douangphachanh of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union Vanna Douangphachanh stressed that a plan should be put in place to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in the region.

The conference attracted delegates from Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, the Philippines and Thailand. The conference entitled “Youths at risk of HIV infection” is designed to debate and exchange experiences on HIV/AIDS like safe sex and condom use, the risk posed by intravenous drug use, primary healthcare education on HIV as well as encouraging youths to participate in social activities./.
