Asian Architecture Design Awards honour numerous Vietnamese projects

Several exceptional projects showcasing the green and sustainable urban character of Vietnam have been honoured at the Winners Gala Night of the 2023 Asian Architecture Design Awards (AADA) at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

Hanoi (VNA) - Several exceptional projects showcasing the green and sustainable urban character of Vietnam have been honoured at the Winners Gala Night of the 2023 Asian Architecture Design Awards (AADA) at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

Among them, a number of residential complexes, resorts, restaurants, and offices in Vietnam vividly demonstrate the fusion of modern architecture and local elements, while integrating nature into human living spaces.

Standout Vietnamese projects selected by the judging panel to be among the 50 winners included The Grand Maria Saigon - The Lake Tower by I.F.O SRL, Xuan Thao residential complex by Xuan Thao, CBRE Hanoi office by Vacons, SHB - Best workplace by SHB, Ngo house by D.O.G house, and Grand Tourane Nha Trang by Sunjin Vietnam.

The organiser emphasised that this event was a prestigious occasion of the field in Asia, aiming to honour and recognise outstanding works by architects and impressive architectural projects across the region.

After over eight months, the awards had over 1,100 accounts registered on the official website, more than 436 projects successfully submitted, and 100 projects making it to the final round.

Alberto Beretta, CEO of I.F.O SRL and head of the 20-judge panel, lauded Asian architecture, including Vietnam, for its unique, diverse, and refined blend of tradition and modernity.

The projects submitted for the awards reflected the strong rise of Asian architecture through creative ideas spanning various sectors, from commercial to social and residential structures.

Some notable projects included the Sikanderpur Forest Regeneration project by JRA Design of India, Tops Redevelopment by ArchiGlobal Inc of the Philippines, Silhouette by What Design Studio of Malaysia, and Mai Chau Culture Resort by The Modern Touch of Vietnam.

The awarding ceremony was divided into four parts, alternating between award presentations and special keynote speeches from prominent experts in the field. Key topics touched upon the future of the interior design industry; designing for livable cities; connecting people through interior design; and hotels, architecture, and culture.

With an intimate and fresh yet profound perspective, these keynote speeches offered unique insights and in-depth information, putting forth a five-year outlook on the Asian architecture and design industry.

In addition, the organiser provided a platform for architects and industry professionals to exchange experiences, collaborate, and share technical insights with colleagues from 12 countries in the region, hence forming a strong Asian architectural community network.

Regarding the potential for development in the Vietnamese architectural sector, Dang The My, CEO & Founder of Vacons, stated that the many award-winning projects from Vietnam will undoubtedly mark a significant step forward and perhaps even herald a new era for design and architecture in the country.

Following the conclusion of the ceremony, the 2024 edition, themed “Emerging Asia” was officially launched, with the associated red-carpet night scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand.

Accordingly, the 2024 AADA still features 30 categories across the six fields of architectural design, interior design, retail interior design, architectural design firms, interior design firms, and furniture manufacturing and retail./.

The AADA is a juried competition that recognises the best in the industry, celebrates creativity, inspiration, and innovation in architecture, interior design, architectural product design and individual work.

It aspires to curate and promote the efforts of accomplished designers and enterprises in the emerging Asia architecture and design industry, providing an excellent platform to showcase their outstanding work internationally.
