The Asian Carom Billiards Championship 2018 kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on April 4, gathering leading cueists from Japan, the Republic of Korea and Vietnam.

HCMCity (VNA) - The AsianCarom Billiards Championship 2018 kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on April 4, gatheringleading cueists from Japan, the Republic of Korea and Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President of the Asian Carom BilliardsConfederation (ACBC) Sam Huyn Nam said the points gained by participatingplayers could help them reach higher position in the Union Mondiale de Billiard(UMB) rankings.

It is also a chance for the Vietnamese team toassess their players’ performance before they attend the World Cup event inAltalya, Turkey in late April and another World Cup event in Ho Chi Minh Cityin May.

After the opening ceremony, playersentered the first days of direct knockouts.

The match between Choi Sung Won from the RoK and Mizutani Kouji of Japan endedwith a 100-43 victory for the RoK player. Vietnamese player Pham Quoc Tuan defeatedJapanese cueist Machida Tadashi with the score100-61.-VNA
