Sydney (VNA) - Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism, and Investment SimonBirmingham called on Australia’s business community to explore moreopportunities in the ten ASEAN member states during a webinar held over theweekend.

TheASEAN-Australia: The Road to Recovery Interactive Webinar was jointly held bythe Australia-ASEAN Council, the ASEAN Committee in Canberra, and Asialink, to celebrate the bloc’s 53rd founding anniversary.

Birminghamhighlighted that growth potential in ASEAN countries, like Vietnam andIndonesia, coupled with established ties between Australia and nations such asSingapore and Malaysia, would provide major opportunities for Australianenterprises to further strengthen cooperation in trade and investment withASEAN.

He notedthat the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), to be inked by 15countries across Indo-Asia-Pacific, will also facilitate business activities.He expects the deal will encourage Australia’s business community to seek opportunitiesin ASEAN nations, driving future growth.

CEO ofAustralia Post Christine Holgate, who is also chairman of the Australia-ASEANCouncil, said she hopes that ASEAN would offer Australian companies opportunities to develop and participate further in the international strategic playground./.
