Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliev made the statement while receiving Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia and Azerbaijan Pham Xuan Son, who presented credentials to him on December 3.


After praising Vietnam ’s renewal achievements and its active role in the region and the world, President Ilham Aliev affirmed that his country will open an embassy in Vietnam soon.


He expressed his wish to strengthen political links with Vietnam through high-ranking visits and the establishment of official relations between the two ruling parties, he said.


Azerbaijan will boost cooperation with Vietnam in other fields, including energy, oil and gas exploitation and exploitation and training experts and high-quality engineers, he said, adding that the two sides will set up an oil and gas joint venture.


The President affirmed that he will instruct relevant agencies to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese people to work and live in Azerbaijan , contributing to fostering bilateral relations between the two countries.


Ambassador Son briefed the host on Vietnam ’s situation and proposed some measures to boost bilateral ties, including coordination at regional and international forums.


On the occasion, Ambassador Son and his entourage laid a wreath at the Statue of late President Gaidar Aliev and visited the Azerbaijan National Oil and Gas Institute and the Baku National University .


He also met with representatives of the overseas Vietnamese community in Azerbaijan. /.
