National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong has asked the southern province of Ba Ria -Vung Tau to fully tap human and land resources to foster its socio-economic development.
The legislative leader made the request during his working trip to the oil-rich province on April 23, which, he expects to help the Party and State map out the development of policies and guidelines, especially as the 7th session of the 12th NA and the 11th National Party Congress are about to take place.
He spoke highly of Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s socio-economic achievements, citing its annual average GDP growth rate of 19.5 percent and large flow of foreign direct investment, with a combined capital of 25 billion USD invested in 260 projects.
To prepare for Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 11th National Party Congress, the province needs to draw on its successes as well as its shortcomings so as to build its own development directions based on its potential and in line with the development strategies of the entire Party for the next decade.
At the working session, the legislators and provincial authorities discussed a number of emerging issues in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, including those regarding health care, education, employment, improvement of local people’s living conditions, and development of the marine economy./.
