Bac Giang (VNA) - 

Representatives of the Bac Giang Department of Industry and Trade had a meeting with a delegation of the Agricultural Counselor and Trade Counselor of Vietnam in the US to discuss measures to remove difficulties in irradiation activities and promote lychee exports to the US market in Bac Giang city, on April 5.

At the meeting, Tran Quang Tan, Director of the Bac Giang Department of Industry and Trade, briefed the guests of results in implementing irradiation response activities at the Hanoi Irradiation Center (HIC) and information about lychee crop in the 2024 season.

CBS Solutions Joint Stock Company, the unit nominated as a representative to assume the role of cooperator of the US Animal and Plant Quarantine Service (APHIS) in the approval process for the HIC to be licensed in irradiation treatment of lychees from Bac Giang province for export to the US has committed to cooperate, develop an operating plan and financial plan to meet the requirements of APHIS to serve the irradiation of Bac Giang lychee exports to the US market at the HIC.

Meanwhile, Amy Nguyen - CEO of Dragonberry Produce Company (the company that imports Bac Giang lychees in the US, said that in 2023, it imported over 40 tonnes of Bac Giang lychees by sea with the most suitable preservation technology.  Therefore, this year they will actively promote and increase the import output of lychees from Bac Giang province to the US market.

Also at the meeting, Tran Minh Thang, Head of the Vietnam Trade Office Branch in California, the US, said that positive results in 2023 will certainly open up new development directions for fabric export activities of Bac Giang province in the near future.

He added that the Vietnam Trade Office in the US will create the best conditions and support for not only exporting lychees but also other strong agricultural products of Bac Giang province in the coming time./.

January CPI rises on stronger Tet holiday demand
