Bac Giang (VNA) – The northern province of Bac Giang remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a robust digital economy by 2025, said Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Mai Son.

The Department of Information and Communications (DIC) has spearheaded several initiatives to empower businesses in the digital landscape. These include collaborating with telecommunication providers to take solutions that enable businesses to conduct small-value transactions through Mobile Money accounts. This initiative aims to enhance financial inclusion and provide a convenient transaction method for businesses, especially those in remote areas.

Moreover, the province has launched an Open Data Portal, providing access to big data analytics on domestic and international market trends. This resource enables firms to develop transformation strategies tailored to the digital economy. By leveraging this data, businesses can make informed decisions, optimise their operations, and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market.

To further support the digital economy, the DIC has intensified partnerships with major corporations like Viettel, VNPT, and FPT to offer unified guidance to businesses, ensuring alignment with the province's digital economic development strategy.

The provincial Department of Planning and Investment (DPI) has embarked on several activities to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and those transitioning to online sales platforms. Alongside this, it held training courses equipping SMEs with the necessary skills to re-evaluate their production and trade methods, value chains, and customer connection models, thus facilitating a smooth transition to digital operations.

In the second quarter of this year, the DPI actively supported the registration and establishment of new digital technology firms. This included streamlining market entry procedures, raising awareness about digital technologies, and introducing them to the Small and Medium Enterprises Support Programme for Digital Transformation (SMEdx). This programme provides essential resources and support to help SMEs navigate the complexities of digital transformation.

DIC Director Tran Minh Chieu highlighted the significant achievements in digital economic development in the first quarter. Industrial production in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector witnessed a robust recovery. Businesses involved in electronics, computer, and optical product manufacturing experienced stable production volumes, reflecting the resilience and potential of Bac Giang's digital economy.

The DPI facilitated the establishment of 90 new digital technology enterprises. Additionally, a working session was held with India's IKDHVAJ Advisers LLP to discuss policy frameworks, approaches to fostering industry growth, and policy enforcement methods specific to Vietnam's electronics industry. This collaboration aims to enhance Bac Giang's capabilities in the electronics sector, positioning it as a key player in the global digital economy.

Furthermore, the Department of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, registered cooperatives, businesses and individuals for upcoming e-commerce training sessions. This initiative aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to leverage technology and digital transformation across the production and consumption chain. This preparation is particularly crucial for the upcoming 2024 lychee season, ensuring that local producers can effectively utilise digital tools to reach broader markets./.
