Bamboo Airways launches Hanoi – Lijiang direct flights

Bamboo Airways has operated its first direct flight connecting the capital city of Hanoi and Lijiang city in China’s Yunnan province.

Hanoi (VNA) - Bamboo Airways has operatedits first direct flight connecting the capital city of Hanoi and Lijiang cityin China’s Yunnan province.

With an expected frequency of three return flights per week, Bamboo Airways is the first and only airline of Vietnam to conduct charter flights from Hanoi to Lijiang city.

With a duration of two hours, the route willhelp shorten the traveling time from Hanoi to the Chinese city. Normally, ittakes about 4-16 hours if passengers use connecting flights, or 16 hours if theytravel by road.

A representative of Bamboo Airways said theoperation of round-trip flights between Hanoi and Lijiang will meet the traveldemands of people in the two cities, as well as contribute to promotingcooperation between the two countries in various fields.

This is also a solid foundation for thecarrier to exploit regular direct flights between Vietnam and China in thefuture, added.

According to the General Statistics Office,Vietnam welcomed 557,151 Chinese tourists in the first half of 2023./.

GDP expands 8.18%, with new growth drivers taking shape

According to the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance, GDP expanded by 8.39% in the second quarter, up from 8.14% a year earlier. Growth for the first six months reached 8.18%, exceeding the 7.63% recorded in the same period of 2025. Vietnam remains ASEAN’s fastest-growing economy in first half of 2026: experts

Economists at United Overseas Bank (UOB), a Singapore-based multinational bank, said Vietnam’s gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by 8.39% in the second quarter of 2026, from 7.94% in the first quarter.
