Binh Dinh called to help fishermen prosper

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has asked the central coastal province of Binh Dinh to support fishermen to create wealth from the sea when it boasts vast potential for the sea-based economy.

The Chairman had a working session with the provincial authoritiesafter attending the 7th session of the provincial People’s Council onDecember 10, as part of his business trip to the central coastalprovinces.

As one of the five localities in thecentral key economic zone, Binh Dinh needs to drastically streamlineadministrative procedures to facilitate investors’ operations, theChairman stressed.

It needs to do more to addressthe widening rich-poor gap, inadequate transport infrastructure and alack of high-quality human resources, and call for local residents’active participation in building new-style rural areas, he said.

In 2013, Binh Dinh’s GDP was estimated to grow at 8.56 percent and its poor population accounted for 9.78 percent.

In 2014, the province has set to post a GPD growth rate of 8.6 - 9percent and reduce the population living below the poverty line to 7.94percent.

During the visit, Chairman Hung visitedNhon Loc commune, An Nhon district and listened to the process ofbuilding new-style rural areas.

He presented gifts to families that lost members to the recent floods in Phu Phong town, Tay Son district.-VNA

Da Nang to replace 1,140 dilapidated houses by May 2025

The total budget for the project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing in Da Nang this year is estimated at 47.4 billion VND (1.85 billion USD). Of this, 30.3 billion VND will be sourced from the state budget, while the remainder from the for the poor fund and other fundraising efforts.

Nearly 9,000 blood units collected at red spring festival

First launched in 2008 to address post-Tet blood shortages, the festival expanded nationwide in 2010 under the direction of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign. Over 17 editions, the festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of donors across the nation, with the Hanoi event – hosted by the institute – collecting nearly 120,000 blood units.
