Binh Duong: thousands of factories to be moved from residential areas

About 2,900 businesses and factories in residential areas of the southern province of Binh Duong will be re-located into industrial zones and clusters in the locality from 2024-2030, according to a plan sketched out by the provincial People’s Committee.

Binh Duong (VNA) – About 2,900 businesses and factoriesin residential areas of the southern province of Binh Duong will be re-located into industrial zones and clusters in the locality from 2024-2030, accordingto a plan sketched out by the provincial People’s Committee.

According to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, thenumber of enterprises that need to be relocated into industrial parks and clustersaccounts for 71% of the total number of local industrial production establishments.

The implementation of the scheme aims to prevent and control environmental pollution, noise, fires and explosionsin residential areas, and contribute to adjusting the province’s urbanplanning, the department said.  

It is also expected to help transform service development modelsand promote civilised and modern urban areas in Thu Dau Mot, Di An and Thuan An cities.

According to Vice President of the Binh Duong Ceramics Association Vuong Sieu Tin, local authorities should have appropriate measures to support businesses thatare required to relocate, helping them stablise their production activitiesafter relocation.  

The Director of the provincial Department of Industry and TradeNguyen Thanh Toan said this is a major policy of the locality and it will notify businesses in advance so that they have time to prepare.

In a recent dialogue with representatives of businesses operatingin the locality, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Minh said thatthe locality will prioritise production models applying high technologies associatedwith environmental protection.

The aim is to create harmony in socio-economicdevelopment and green growth, thus contributing to developing Binh Duong as a smart city./.

Thai Binh province has identified 2,106 eligible households—1,164 requiring new homes and 942 needing home repairs. Each new house receives 100 million VND in aid, while 50 million VND is provided for each repaired home. The total budget for the 2024-2025 period is 163.5 billion VND (6.4 million USD).

Tien Giang steps up efforts to eliminate substandard houses

According to the Tien Giang People’s Committee, 485 homes for policy beneficiaries, families of war martyrs, and low-income households will be supported. Of these, 284 new homes will be built, and 201 existing ones repaired, with a total budget of 24.1 billion VND (about 984,000 USD). As of March 6, construction had started on 166 houses, with 32 already completed.
