Hanoi (VNA) – Bitel, a brand of the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) in Peru, has recently carried out 5G tests in the American nation on the occasion of its fifth anniversary.
Its download and upload speeds were 1,506Mbps and 78.7Mbps, respectively.
Bitel General Director Phan Hoang Viet Anh said the telecoms firm aims to increase its market share from 16.3 percent at present to 18 percent by 2020, and will pour more investments to introduce cutting-edge technologies in Peru.
During the five years of operation the country, Bitel has enjoyed the fastest growth as compared to other telecoms firms in the country, with a network of optical fibre stretching 35,000 km, 5,300 3G base transceiver stations and 3,400 4G base transceiver stations.
In the first nine months of 2019, Bitel’s pre-tax profit exceeded the set target and increased 254 percent year-on-year.
In May, Bitel won a 27 million USD contract to provide information and technology infrastructure for 1,837 schools in Peru.
Accordingly, Bitel would help the schools improve their services for the education and training sector in Peru. The project includes four packages and would be implemented in 25 cities and provinces in the country.
This is the largest project which Bitel has won so far. The Bitel-proposed project was evaluated as better than current plans used in the country./.
