Book street helps encourage reading culture

After two years of operation, Nguyen Van Binh book street in Ho Chi Minh City has attracted more than 4 million visitors, becoming a wholesome destination for book lovers.

The book street, next to the city’s landmark Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral, opened in January 2016 with 20 book stores of 14 publishing houses and 2 café book shops.

Especially, hundreds of events have been held in the book street over the past two years, including book launch, meetings between writers and audiences, as well as exhibitions.

During a recent meeting to review the operation of the book street held in the city, local authorities affirmed that the street has initially met the demand for improving locals’ spiritual life and helped encourage reading culture.-VNA
