Border representative office in Lao Cai set up

The command of the border guard force in northern Lao Cai province has made public a representative office in charge of handling issues arising in the border section shared with China.

The establishment ofthe representative office ushered in a new chapter in the management ofthe shared borderline crossing Lao Cai province in particular and theentire Vietnam-China land border in general.

LaoCai section is named the third among the eight sections of theborderline that Vietnam shares with China . The land borderlinepasses through Vietnam ’s northern provinces of Dien Bien, Lai Chau,Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Lang Son and Quang Ninh.

This showsVietnam and China have for the first time agreed on a borderrepresentative mechanism to handle the maintenance and protection ofborder management regulations and timely solve related issues.

The unified border representative mechanism is expected tocontributing to enhancing external relations between the two countries’border guard forces, as well as exchanges between border people whilemaintaining political stability and facilitating social-economicdevelopment in Lao Cai province.

Ha Thi Nga, ViceChairperson of Lao Cai province’s People Committee, said building,managing and defending the national border are extremely important andthe border representative office for section No. 3 plays a key role inassisting Lao Cao province in handling border issues in compliance withthe Vietnam-China land border management agreement.

The agreement on Vietnam-China land border management regulations signedon November 18, 2009 and became effective on July 14, 2010 worked outborder representative office mechanisms relevant for border sections.

Accordingly,to manage border sections sharing with China, border representativeswere appointed according to a document issued by the Prime Minister onAugust 24, 2010.-VNA

In his speech, General Secretary and President Lam stressed that Mulino's official visit holds special significance for bilateral ties. He expressed his belief that the visit will not only resume high-level contacts after a long gap but also give new momentum to ties, moving them into a more substantive, effective and deeper phase.

Vietnamese, Panamanian leaders meet the press following talks

Both sides agreed that there is ample room for cooperation, particularly in trade, investment and services. They pledged to step up joint work in the economic, trade, investment, agriculture, port logistics, finance, banking, tourism and transport sectors, as well as other areas of mutual strength. They also plan to continue negotiating agreements on investment protection, aviation and other areas to create a more favourable framework for expanding cooperation.

Vietnam, Panama exchange cooperation documents witnessed by top leaders

The documents include an agreement on maritime transport cooperation between the Governments of Vietnam and Panama, an agreement on cooperation in combating transnational crime, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on agricultural cooperation, and an MoU on tourism cooperation between the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and the Panama Tourism Authority.

Panamanian President and spouse visit Temple of Literature

Visiting Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy) in Hanoi, Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino showed keen interest in the historical, cultural and artistic values of the World Documentary Heritage site, which houses 82 stone steles honouring doctoral laureates.
