Brazil boosts ties with Vietnam: President

Brazil will continue to build on the good relationship that exists between the Brazilian and Vietnamese Governments and peoples, especially in economic cooperation, says Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

President da Silva stated this whilereceiving the incoming Vietnamese Ambassador, Duong Nguyen Tuong, whohas recently taken up the post.

The President highlighted Vietnam ’s outstanding achievements in economics, culture and society in recent times.

He asked the Vietnamese diplomat to convey his best regards toPresident Nguyen Minh Triet and invite him to visit Brazil at theend of October or early November.

Ambassador Tuong conveyed President Triet’s best wishes to President da Silva.

Vietnam always attaches a great deal of importance to relationswith Brazil and is eager to develop cooperation with the country,particularly in trade, science-technology, agriculture and education,said the diplomat.

He added that he hopes he willreceive support from President da Silva and the Government and people ofBrazil during his term of office./.

During the event, the Vietnamese delegation met with major French defence firms, including Airbus and UNAC, to discuss technology transfer, human resource training, technical support and defence industry development.
