Over 300 disabled people in the southern province of Dong Nai will better access to social welfares in education and vocational training under an European Union-funded project.

The 213,000 EUR project will have 80 percent of the total budget to be funded by the EU. The rest will be raised by project executives - the provincial administration and the Belgian Handicap International in Vietnam , which have signed the project recently.

The project, to be implemented between 2011-2013, will focus on disabled people with working capacity by providing them with suitable jobs or start-up investment and vocational training.

To reach that end, executives will conduct surveys on the demand for jobs and social welfares for the disabled in the target districts, provide training and consultation for vocational training centres’ staffs on their jobs towards the disabled, encourage enterprises to employ disabled workers and make it easier for the disabled to access start-up investment.

With all those activities, the project is expected to speed up communal integration among the target population./.
