Hanoi (VNA) - Each community in special-use forests’ buffer zones will receive an average of 50 million VND (over 1,900 USD) a year under a recent degree on several forestry investment policies.
The financial support will be prioritised for agricultural and forestry extension activities, the purchase of seedlings and breeds, and small-scale processing equipment for agricultural and forestry products, along with the construction of public facilities in such areas as clean water, lighting system, communications network, and rural roads.
The beneficiaries must be those who have well protected forests, had their estimates approved, and pledged to the management boards of special-use forests to safeguard the forests.
The management boards are requested to coordinate with communal-level People’s Committees to hold meetings on support plans with the communities.
Meanwhile, the communities are responsible for the implementation of the approved plans in line with legal regulations on grassroots democracy.
The decree will take effect from July 15, 2024./.
