Paris (VNA) – A delegation of Buon Ma Thuot in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, led by Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Vu Van Hung, visited France from December 12-14 to learn from French and international partners about green and sustainable urban planning.
During the trip, the delegation held meetings with the Paris Urban Planning Agency (APUR), the French Development Agency (AFD), the OECD's Centre for Entrepreneurship, Regions and Cities, and the Vietnamese Embassy in France.
Hung outlined the Vietnamese city’s socio-economic development and plans for green, smart urban growth over the next five years.
Highlighting the city’s 120-year history, he emphasised its goal to become the Central Highlands' regional hub and solidify its "Coffee City" brand.
The APUR shared Paris’ experience in adapting to climate change through energy consumption reduction, green energy adoption, and balanced urban planning. Efforts include expanding green spaces, encouraging social housing, and enhancing bike- and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure.
The AFD emphasised its funding priorities for Vietnam, focusing on urban resilience and climate adaptation.
Meanwhile, the OECD discussed its smart city programme, addressing challenges such as digital access gaps, cybersecurity, and integrating ecological and digital transitions.
The delegation concluded the visit by working with the Vietnamese Embassy in France, seeking continued support in promoting Buon Ma Thuot as the global "Coffee City”./.
