Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia and China will join hands to bring power to Cambodia’s rural areas after approving a plan on the construction of a power transmission system in 13 provinces and cities on March 30.
Attending the signing ceremony were Keo Ratanas, director general of Cambodia’s electricity group and Lun Wenjun, director general of the China National Heavy Machinery Corporation.
Of the total investment worth 100 million USD, 85 percent comes from the Export-Import Bank of China and the remaining is contributed by the Cambodian Government’s corresponding fund.
Upon completion, expected within six months, the project will ensure sufficient electricity supply for 98,400 households.
In addition, it will help bolster the economy.-VNA
