Cambodia, Japan enhance art, culture exchanges

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Kazuyuki Nakane have agreed to increase cooperation in art and culture between the two countries during their recent meeting in Phnom Penh.

Japan will collaborate with Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts to open a culture and art representative office in the Southeast Asian nation, said assistant to the Cambodian PM Eang Sophalleth.

PM Hun Sen agreed with the Japan’s aforesaid proposal and advocated the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme (SSEAYP).

He hailed Japan for supporting Cambodia in election reform and said his country hopes to receive more technical assistance from Japan .

Deputy FM Nakane underlined the sound cooperation between the two countries.

He took this occasion to thank the Cambodian PM for his support to the SSEAYP as well as other projects that Japan is implementing in Phnom Penh – the twining city of Japan’s Kyda city, including human resources development, particularly industrial engineers training.

Japan will continue assist Cambodia in election reform to ensure its freedom, transparency and equality, he said.-VNA
