Cambodia National Assembly convenes seventh session

The fifth Cambodian National Assembly convened its seventh plenary meeting in Phnom Penh on October 7.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – The fifth Cambodian National Assembly convened its seventh plenary meeting in Phnom Penh on October 7.

The meeting’s opening ceremony was attended by 67 parliamentarians from the Cambodian People Party (CPP), including Prime Minister Hun Sen. It did not see the participation of the parliamentarians from the Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) as they continued boycotting the event.

Addressing the opening session, Chairman of the National Assembly Heng Samrin read the message sent by King Norodom Sihamoni.

The King he spoke highly of the results of the law-making body’s activities and expressed his hope that the organ will continuously tackle challenges to safeguard the domestic society’s stability with peace, political stability, security, order and sustainable development.

According to the agenda, the legislators will debate and approve a draft report on the NA’s activities as of mid-sixth meeting and the seventh meeting, a draft law on managing physicians and bills ratifying agreements and protocols in the ASEAN Agreement that the Cambodian Government signed with ASEAN, and vote for three titles of the State Audit.

The fifth National Assembly has 123 legislators, including 68 from the ruling CPP and 55 from the opposition CNRP.-VNA
