Cambodia to spend 7 million USD on food, accommodation for foreign athletes, coaches at SEA Games 32

Cambodia has planned to spend 7 million USD to cover the expenses of food and accommodation for all foreign athletes and coaches participating in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games which is scheduled for May, Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on April 24.

Phnom Penh (VNA) - Cambodia has planned to spend 7 million USD to cover the expenses of food and accommodation for all foreign athletes and coaches participating in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games which is scheduled for May, Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on April 24.

The Cambodian Prime Minister said the Games is free-of-charge for all athletes, coaches and spectators, both Cambodians and foreigners.

Earlier, Cambodia had announced to waive the charge of 50 USD a person per day on food and accommodation for all foreign athletes and coaches. It will also provide free tickets for all viewers as well as free live broadcast rights for local and foreign TV networks.

Cambodia will host the SEA Games for the first time in 64 years, with more than 11,000 athletes and coaches from Southeast Asian nations expected to participate in the Games.

According to the Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC), the Games will see athletes competing in 37 sports across 581 disciplines and ASEAN Para Games 12 with 13 sports.

With the slogan "Sports - Living in Peace", SEA Games 32 will take place from May 5-17 in the capital city of Phnom Penh and four other localities, namely Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, and Kep./.
