Cambodia, Vietnam to hold joint rescue drill

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on December 16 that Cambodian and Vietnamese soldiers will jointly hold a rescue exercise in the border area on December 18.

Phnom Penh (VNA) - Cambodian PrimeMinister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on December 16 that Cambodian andVietnamese soldiers will jointly hold a rescue exercise in the border area onDecember 18.

Speaking at the University of Health Sciences’graduation ceremony in Phnom Penh, PM Hun Sen said the joint exercise isdesigned to strengthen rescue capabilities for troops of both countries in theevent of floods and forest fires along the border.

The one-day drill will be conducted in an area in Cambodia'sSvay Rieng province bordering Vietnam's Long An province.

The PM has said Cambodia is committed to building aborder of peace, friendship, cooperation and development./.

KPDN Enforcement Director Azman Adam said on May 10 that authorities had made 161 arrests, with the total value of seized goods estimated at 23.17 million MYR (5.9 million USD). Diesel-related offences accounted for the largest number of cases at 249, followed by petrol-related violations with 119 cases.
