A delegation of the two Cambodian provinces of Svay Rieng and Prey Veng made a New Year visit to the Mekong Delta province of Long An on January 29.
At the meeting with Long An officials, Svay Rieng Governor Chieng Om and Chairman of Prey Veng’s Council Cheam Him extended New Year greetings to the people and leaders of Vietnam.
Vice Chairman of Long An provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Nguyen briefed the Cambodian delegation on the province’s socio-economic situation and the results of the 2012 Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year.
The three provinces organised many joint activities to mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties last year, including border security, and economic and cultural cooperation. They also agreed to continue working together to search for and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Cambodia during wartime.
Earlier this month, Long An and Svay Rieng signed a bilateral cooperation agreement to boost ties.-VNA
