Cambodian Senate President passes away

Chief of the ruling Cambodia People’s Party (CPP) and President of the Senate Chea Sim died on June 8 due to illness, aged 83, according to CPP spokesperson Chhim Phalvarun.
Chief of the ruling Cambodia People’s Party (CPP) and President of the Senate Chea Sim died on June 8 due to illness, aged 83, according to CPP spokesperson Chhim Phalvarun.

Chea Sim served as President of the National Assembly of Cambodia from 1981-1998.

He held various positions in both the executive and legislative branches, ranging from chairman of the Council of State, minister of interior and head of both the lower house and upper house.

He was elected as President of the CPP since it was established in 1991 and President of the Senate in 1999.-VNA
