Bangkok (VNA) - Thailand’s number of COVID-19 cases continued to rise over the past week from April 28 to May 4, with 1,792 people hospitalised and 12 succumbed to the disease, according to the country’s Department of Disease Control.
As reported by the local online newspaper The Nation, so far this year, it has recorded 13,057 COVID-19 patients and 93 fatalities. Of the total admissions, 501 developed lung inflammation and 187 were put on ventilators.
A spike in COVID-19-related hospital admissions and deaths among at-risk groups was noticed since the country’s Songkran holiday from April 11-15.
The public has been advised to resume standard preventive practices of frequent hand-washing, avoiding crowded areas and wearing face masks in heavily populated places./.
