The e-blood bank is expected to see the participation of cities and provinces nationwide together with 65,000 agencies, organisations and businesses, and gather at least 6,500 persons in reserve for giving blood to needy patients.

The blood donation campaign 2011 will begin on May 8 through September 2, targeting to collect 193,800 blood units to help ease serious needs of blood in emergency cases and treatments as well.

The “Red Blood Drops” campaign is jointly launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the National Steering Board for Voluntary Blood Donations.

Started in 2009, voluntary blood donation activities have thus far witnessed enthusiastic response by people from all walks of life nationwide.

In 2010, 670,435 blood units were collected, a year-on-year increase of 11.5 percent, 84 percent of which came from donors./.
