A campaign calling on young people to take action for a drug-free world was launched on June 13 in the northern city of Hai Phong in response to the Drug Prevention Month.

Participants at the event come from youth unions from eight Red River Delta cities and provinces.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong, Chairman of the National Committee for HIV/AIDS, Drug, Prostitution Prevention and Control, called for enhanced drug prevention and a more effective model to prevent drugs in localities.

Statistics released at the event showed that among around 150,000 addicts, 100,000 are young people./.
