Hanoi (VNA) - Campaign “World Cleanup Day 2020” was launched in Hanoi on October 17 by Let's Do It! Hanoi organisation, aiming at raising the public awareness of and calling for the community to join actions towards the capital city’s green environment.
The campaign took place at three locations in Hanoi namely Pham Hung and Nguyen Trai streets and Duong Lieu commune of Hoai Duc district, drawing the participation of about 1,500 people.
Through its activities, the event contributed to spreading messages of protecting the environment while proposing measures to reduce waste, creating more green spaces.
The World Cleanup Day was initiated by the Let’s Do It World Organisation with the aim of mobilising 5 percent of the world population to clean up trash in one day.
For two consecutive years 2018 and 2019, only in Hanoi, the campaign "World Cleanup Day” attracted 2,151 participants, 900,000 people knew about its message and nearly 10 tonnes of garbage were collected./.
