Chairman of Can Tho’s People Committee Le Hung Dung and new Indian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Smita Pant expressed their wish to expand bilateral cooperation in hi-tech agriculture during their working session in the Mekong Delta city on October 9.
Dung said that India has always been a strategic partner and a promising market for Can Tho city, with two-way trade focusing on seafood, pharmaceutical materials, fabrics and chemicals.
He affirmed that the municipal authorities will create the best conditions on investment policy and infrastructure for Indian investors.
For her part, Smita Pant briefed the host about India’s agricultural achievements, especially the Green Revolution, which created a new high-yield rice variety, and the White Revolution producing a constantly increasing sustainable flood of milk.
She said she hopes to serve as a bridge for the two countries’ businesses to exchange experience and scientific and technological advances in the field.
On the occasion, she invited Can Tho representatives to attend a seminar between enterprises of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and India which will take place in India in December this year.-VNA
