Can Tho hopes for future new technology centre

The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho is endeavoring to become a new technology centre in its region in compliance with a decision made by the Prime Minister in 2006.
The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho is endeavoring to become a newtechnology centre in its region in compliance with a decision made bythe Prime Minister in 2006.

To this end, CanTho is broadening its partnerships with other localities throughout thecountry along with international support in order to provide personneltraining and technology innovation in the areas of agricultural productprocessing, building materials, chemicals, biology and automation.

It has also been deemed necessary to apply information technology instate management, development of technological businesses, investmentattraction and high-tech industrial and agricultural zonal models in thelocal districts of Vinh Thanh, Co Do, and O Mon.

Over the years, the city has gained certain achievements in scienceand technology development. However, the low rate of people undertakingscientific studies, inadequate equipment at institutes and universitiesand a shortage of technological consultations and quality standards arehampering the local sector.

From 2016, Can Tho is scheduled to develop technologies of agricultural item processing, automation and biotechnology.

It will also build a high-tech industrial park by 2020.-VNA

PM attends memorial service for 731 fallen soldiers in Ho Chi Minh City

From June 23 to October 5, Team K74 and other forces recovered 731 sets of martyrs’ remains from the park. Biological samples and DNA samples collected from relatives of unidentified fallen soldiers are being analysed and stored in the national gene bank to support identification efforts.

Russia waives visa requirements for Vietnamese tourists

Saigon River pedestrian bridge set to be joined on October 21

The assembly comprises a main bridge structure weighing about 1,400 tonnes and a specialised steel supporting frame weighing around 2,000 tonnes. During testing, about 30 self-propelled modular transporters were used to lift the assembly 40cm off the ground for technical inspections. Sensors and monitoring equipment recorded key parameters.

Hanoi breaks ground on 299-hectare safari park

Its key features will include animal habitats modelled on natural ecosystems, veterinary and research facilities, educational exhibitions and recreational areas. Green spaces and water bodies will cover about 81.8% of the site, providing ecological corridors and suitable habitats for wildlife.
