Hanoi (VNA) – As the continuation of its efforts to assist underprivileged students across Vietnam, Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd on September 5 presented 140 bicycles to secondary and high-school students in the northern province of Bac Giang.
The bicycles, valued at nearly 170 million VND (7,480 USD), were given to students of Hiep Hoa 2, Cam Ly, and Lang Giang 3 high schools and Viet Tien, Xuong Lam, Tu Mai, Dong Tan and Tien Son secondary schools under the “Canon-Delighting you to go to school” programme.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Director of Canon’s Que Vo factory Eiji Yasuda said the company has carried out a line-up of social activities to bring a sound studying environment for Vietnamese students, thus joining hands with the Vietnamese people to incubate talents for the country.
Besides the “Canon-Delighting you to go to school”, “Canon Friendship School Chain” and “Canon-Cultivate Future Talents” are standout programmes developed by the company, he added.
Also in September, the company plans to present 140 bicycles to students at 11 schools in the northern province of Bac Ninh.
After six years of implementation, the company has given nearly 1,300 bicycles to students at 50 schools in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces.-VNA
