A group of US voluntary doctors from Good Samaritan Medical and Dental Ministry has offered free check-ups and treatment to poor people in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang.

During the 10 days of working, they examined and treated nearly 4,000 locals in seven districts and Cao Bang city, with focus on dental, optic, obstetric and cardiovascular diseases.

The programme has a budget of 11 billion VND (517,000 USD), which were collected by Vietnamese-born US doctors.

All equipment used during the programme was given to the provincial health sector. The group also transferred the technology and helped improve expertise for local doctors.
