The branch of Caodaism named Chieu Minh Tam Thanh Vo Vi held its first congress in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on April 26.
The congress attracted more than 250 representatives from Committees for Religious Affairs at all levels as well as several branches of Caodaism and other organisations
The congress elected 18 members to the sect’s Central Committee and 18 others to the Executive Council to serve the 2010-2015 term.
It set out its tasks for the next five years, calling on Caodaism followers to remain patriotic, promote solidarity and mutual assistance and follow the State’s religious policies.
The Caodaism Chieu Minh Tam Thanh Vo Vi sect (abbreviated as the Caodaism Chieu Minh) now has more than 6,000 followers.
The Caodaism Chieu Minh sect were certified to operate by the Government’s Committee for Religious Affairs on December 15, 2009.
Founded in 1926, it has since preserved the nation’s cultural identity, stuck to their patriotic beliefs and followed the moral examples laid down by the late President Ho Chi Minh.
Over the past five years, the sect has provided free medical check-ups and medicines worth 204 million VND to more than 1,000 people and contributed more than 2 billion VND to help eliminate hunger and reduce poverty./.
