Care and education for disadvantaged children promoted

On Mar. 15 the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) donated 60,000 USD to the non-governmental organisation, Children of Vietnam, in Da Nang City.

The money will be used tosupport an ongoing project on taking care of disabled children under theage of 16 in Cam Le district.

Almost 150 disabled children will receive support over the next three years.

The project will also improve the quality of local public services.

Since 2000, HSBC has donated 3.5 million USD to 72 charitableorganisations across the world, including Children of Vietnam.

Later the same day in Thai Nguyen City , the Vu A Dinh ScholashipFund also announced 305 scholarships for ethnic minority pupils andstudents from the northern provinces of Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, BacKan , Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Bac Giang and Quang Ninh.

Thisis to mark the foundation of the Fund (March 15), the Ho Chi MinhCommunist Youth Union (March 26) and also to acknowledge the 10 thNational Congress of Vietnam’s Youth Union.

The Fund will provide 3,000 scholarships for ethnic minority pupils.

Since its inception, the fund has given 50,000 scholarships in total.-VNA

National, local traffic safety committees to be dissolved from June 1

Under the dicision, ministries and ministerial-level agencies will assume responsibility for tasks previously performed by the committee, in line with their mandates under the Law on Government Organisation, the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, the Law on Roads and other relevant legal frameworks, ensuring that traffic safety and order are maintained without disrupiton.
