Cash flow helps lift Vietnamese markets

On the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, about 125.5 million shares changed hands for a total value of 1.766 trillion VND (84.09 million USD), marking the return of speculative cash.

The VN-Index jumped 0.61 percent to 511.62 points, successfully exceeding the strong resistance band of 505-510 points.

The VN30-Index, tracking the southern city's top shares by capitalisation and liquidity, gained 0.5 percent to hit 571.71 points. Gainers overwhelmed losers by 18-7.

PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation (PVT) rose 800 VND (0.038 USD) to the ceiling price of 12,400 VND (0.59 USD) per share.

REE Corporation (REE) surged 4.2 percent to 29,600 VND (1.4 USD) per share. Real estate giant Vingroup (VIC), Vinamilk (VNM) and Masan Group (MSN) earned 1,000 VND (0.049 USD) per share each on December 3.

Other gainers included insurance company Bao Viet Group (BVH), technology company FPT Group (FPT), Hoa Phat Group (HPG), Hoa Sen Group (HSG), Ocean Group (OGC) and Military Bank (MBB).

However, PetroVietnam Drilling (PVD) lost 1,000 VND (0.049 USD) to sell at 63,000 VND (3 USD) per share.

Vietinbank (CTG), Vinh Son-Song Hinh (VSH), PetroVietnam General Services (PET), Eximbank (EIB), Da Nang Rubber Corporation (DRC) and PetroVietnam Fertiliser and Chemicals Corporation (DPM) lost 100 VND (0.0049 USD) or 200 VND (0.0095 USD) per share each.

According to FPT Securities, increases in blue chips supported the benchmark indices to advance on December 3. In addition, the mid-cap and penny groups also witnessed recoveries.

Overall, on the southern bourse, 163 codes managed to increase while 65 codes lost.

On the northern bourse, the HNX-Index advanced 0.78 percent to reach 65.64 points and the HNXFF-Index, including stocks with a minimum free-float rate of 5 percent, edged up 0.76 percent to reach 64.69 points on the second day.

With more than 43.36 million shares traded, the total value reached 334.25 billion VND (15.92 million USD).

The HNX30-Index, consisting of the capital's largest shares, picked up 1.08 percent to reach 124.23 points.-VNA
