Hanoi (VNA) – A ceremony took place in Hanoi onAugust 27 to celebrate the centenary of the International Labour Organisation(ILO).
Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam saidVietnam and the ILO have collaborated to realise joint conceptions sharedbetween ILO founders and President Ho Chi Minh on social justice andsustainable employment for universal peace and happiness.
He said in the context of the fourth industrial revolutionand labour mobility trend, Vietnam has determined to focus on educationalreform, particularly in human resources training, and boost workers’ capacityin response to new changes and demands in the market.
Dam stressed the Vietnamese Government considers developingthe human resources and ensuring sustainable employment a fundamental factorfor completing the socialist-oriented market economy and tapping the potentialof the country’s golden population period.
He stated that Vietnam always prioritises the conduction ofsocial welfare policies to create an attractive workforce during its globalintegration process.
Joining the ILO in 1992, Vietnam is committed to respecting,promoting and applying international labour standards in the ILO’s 1998 Declarationon Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work in line with the nation’s growthconditions.
Vietnam has so far ratified 24 ILO conventions. Mostrecently, the National Assembly adopted the organisation’s Convention 98 on theRight to Organize and Collective Bargaining at its 7th session inJune this year.-VNA
