National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong underscored the increasinglyimportant role of the state audit in examining and monitoring themanagement and use of public capital to serve socio-economicdevelopment.
The Vietnamese official made the remarks to the chiefs of delegations tothe 42 nd meeting of the Executive Board of the Asian Organisation ofSupreme Auditing Institutions (ASOSAI) in Hanoi on August 4.
Hespoke highly of the outcomes of the 42 nd meeting, naming the adoptionof the 2011-2015 strategic plan for ASOSAI, initiatives and solutionsto gradually narrow the professional gap and increased coordinationamong regional auditing agencies and with their counterparts in otherregions.
The NA Chairman raised the fact that the State Audit ofVietnam was still a fledgling agency and needed to strengthen tieswith other counterparts around the world to learn from their professionand experiences in order to improve the professional skills of itsstaff.
He asked ASOSAI members to continue supporting the StateAudit of Vietnam to integrate into the regional audit, accomplish itsrole in ASOSAI’s Executive Board and host the ASOSAI General Assembly in2015.
ASOSAI President Tanwir Ali Agha, who is General Auditorof Pakistan , said he was impressed with Vietnam ’s recent economicgrowth and State Audit of Vietnam’s competent preparations for ASOSAI’s42 nd meeting.
He highly valued the Vietnamese State Audit’scontributions to cooperative activities in the field in Asia as amember of ASOSAI Executive Board.
According to Tanwir Ali Agha, ASOSAI was established in 1979 with seven members.
Nowwith 40 members, the organisation is embarking on its mutual goal ofpromoting mutual understanding and cooperation among its members,boosting the training and improvement of auditing for state auditors,providing transparent financial information and helping parliamentsmonitor the management and use of public financial resources./.
