Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese tourism businesses are making efforts to draw Chinese visitors with demand for deluxe services, sensing that the segment is expanding after COVID-19.
According to the Vietnam Travel and Marketing Transports JSC (Vietravel), the high-spending group is expected to make up 5-10% of the company's total customers, doubling the figure of 3-5% in the period before the pandemic.
Nguyen Hong Trang, a representative from the Asia Destination Management JSC, said the number of such clients accounts for 10% of her company’s total but brings about a revenue of 10 times higher than normal customers.
Chinese tourists are among the highest-spending groups worldwide, spending an average of 1,800 USD per person on an overseas trip.
Huynh Phan Phuong Hoang, vice director of Vietravel, unveiled that the company and its Vietravel Airlines are planning charter flights to bring passengers from major Chinese cities to Vietnam. Communications activities to promote Vietnam tourism are also earmarked for trending social networks and technological platforms in China such as Weibo, TikTok, WeChat, QQ, and Baidu, she added.
The manager said Chinese travelers with middle and high spending capacity require tailored services, hence her business has coordinated with resorts nationwide to develop luxury tours that bring tourists to many destinations throughout the country.
Ho Huu Huynh, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City-based Beibao Go International Travel Co., Ltd, meanwhile, said the firm is launching two strategic products on market study tours serving Chinese business associations and enterprises who want to seek investment opportunities in Vietnam after three years in hiatus due to COVID-19./.
