Hanoi (VNA) –
The bilateral cooperation between China and Singapore in various fields has seen steady progresses, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang told Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during their meeting in Beijing on April 29.

Li said an upgraded free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries has exerted positive effects.

China is willing to work with Singapore to speed up negotiations of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), conclude consultations on the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in accordance with the set goals, he said.

He added that China is also ready to coordinate with Singapore to promote cooperation within the China-ASEAN mechanism, so as to promote stability, development and prosperity in the region.

For his part, Lee said Singapore stands ready to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Singaporean PM is scheduled to meet President Xi Jinping in Beijing on the same day.

China and Singapore will mark the 30th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2020.-VNA
