Chinese premier urges agricultural cooperation with ASEAN

 Hanoi (VNA) – ChinesePremier Li Qiang on April 25 sent a congratulatory letter to the openingceremony of the ASEAN-China Year of Agricultural Development and Food SecurityCooperation, according to China’s Xinhua news agency. 

Agriculture and food security are the bases for theachievement of peace, stability and development, and they are key areas ofcooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN), bringing great significance to the yearlong event, the premier said in theletter.

He said he hopes that both sides will work together toimprove the resilience and sustainability of agricultural development and toensure food security in an improved manner.

Building on the event, China is willing to deepen cooperationwith ASEAN members on green agriculture, smart agriculture, digitalagriculture, and poverty relief and rural revitalization, Li said.

He also called on the two sides to advance theChina-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership and help achieve the goals ofthe United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development./.
