Chinese team named champion at Can Tho volleyball tourney

China was crowned the winner of the Asian Volleyball Confederation Women’s Beach Volleyball Tour Vietnam – Can Tho Open 2016 after defeating their Thai rivals on May 7.

Can Tho (VNA) – China was crowned the winner of the Asian Volleyball Confederation Women’s Beach Volleyball Tour Vietnam – Can Tho Open 2016 after defeating their Thai rivals on May 7.

The Chinese duo won 2 – 0 over Thailand 1 after nearly one hour of competition. As the champion, the Chinese team received 3,000 USD in cash.

The final match took place at the artificial beach volleyball court in Ninh Kieu district, the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, which organised the event for the first time.

Earlier, Australia secured the third place of the tourney with a 2 – 1 win over Hong Kong 1.

The four-day tournament attracted 11 teams from seven countries and territories – New Zealand, Australia, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong (China) and Vietnam.

Of the 11 teams, Vietnam has three teams, Thailand and New Zealand each have two teams.

The tournament has a total prize money of 15,000 USD.-VNA
