Singapore (VNA) – With the theme of “Lights of Legacy, Brighter Singapore”, the Chingay Parade 2016, which took place on February 19-20, fascinated local residents and also international tourists.
This was the biggest-ever Chingay festival with the participation of 8,000 performers and 50 processions from Singapore and 10 others countries like Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and China.
During the event, 250,000 participants from all backgrounds completed sky lanterns and cubes to create light performances.
This was the first time 30 religious groups and organisations in Singapore participated in joint performances with the aim to promote the pride of a multi-racial and multi-religious nation.
Chingay 2016 marks the first year of Singapore's next 50 years towards the country’s 100th founding anniversary in 2065.-VNA
